This is the Shenandoah Valley wine country. And it is especially beautiful during the Autumn leaf-viewing season.
  The Days Inn, just west of exit 205 is a favorite of ours (and they have modem jacks if you carry a notebook computer as do we).

• Rockbridge Vineyard

Buffalo Springs Herb Farm - About a dozen herb gardens, all available for viewing, plus a retail outlet. The Farm hosts a number of special events (see their web site for schedules). Not only are the wide variety of herbs interesting, - their creative landscaping has produced a very beautiful, restful garden.
  Open Wednesday through Saturday from 10a to 5p. From mid-September to mid-December they are also open Sundays from 1 to 5p. Check their web site or phone for specifics.

  From I-64/81 take exit 205 and head westbound on VA-606 (Raphine Road). Drive through Raphine and they are at 7 Kennedy-Wade's Mill Loop (which is just after VA-604 and on your right - about 4 miles from the Interstate).

Rockbridge Vineyard - Producer of many fine Virginia wines - which have won many awards in national and state competitions - Rockbridge Vineyard is open May through October for tours, tastings and various festivals.
  Open May through October, Wednesday through Sunday, from noon to 5 p; April, November and December, Saturday and Sunday only, from noon to 5p. Admission is FREE to visit the Vineyard. Prices vary for specific events and festivals.
