If you stopped by
Watson Falls, you've seen the tallest waterfall along the Scenic Byway,
now you can see the smallest. Well, not quite - but Whitehorse Falls is
only 10 feet high and 10 feet wide. It is right next to the road and
even 'wheelchair friendly' so why not stop. For photos of
Watson
Falls, see:
How to get
there:
Exit I-5 in Roseburg onto OR-138
and head east, across the river to OR-99. Here, OR-138 follows 99 north
for a couple blocks and then goes east (right) again. It is about 18
miles to Glide and the North Umpqua Ranger District Office (18782 North
Umpqua Hwy). Stop in, get loaded up with information - which will help
increase your enjoyment of the coming sights.

(continued
from column 1)
(How to get
there - continued):
From Glide
continue east on Hwy 138 to Steamboat and Forest Road #38. This is
probably where you turned off to view Steamboat Falls.
From Forest
Road #38, continue east on Hwy 130 for about 18 miles, past Toketee
Falls (the community) and continue another 1.8 miles to Forest Road
#34. This is probably where you turned off to view Toketee Falls.
From Forest
Road #34, continue east on Hwy 130 for 1.3 miles to Forest Road #37
(also called Fish Creek Road). This is probably where you turned off to view
Watson Falls.
Continue east
on Hwy 130 for another 4.7 miles to Whitehorse Falls Campground. There
is an observation deck adjacent to the parking lot. And, yes, it is
'wheelchair friendly'.
