We were told
that the 120 foot Toketee Falls is the most famous waterfall in Southern
Oregon. It is certainly awesome and ideal for camera bugs. Framed by the
volcanic basalt cliff with splashes of greenery, it plunges in two giant
steps to the beautiful pool far below. It looks like an artists
rendition of his dream waterfall. And it is only a little less than a
half mile from the main road (Hwy 138). The path to the observation deck
includes a lot of stairs but, other than that, it is an easy walk of
less than a half mile.

How to get
there:
Exit I-5 in Roseburg onto OR-138
and head east, across the river to OR-99. Here, OR-138 follows 99 north
for a couple blocks and then goes east (right) again. It is about 18
miles to Glide and the North Umpqua Ranger District Office (18782 North
Umpqua Hwy). Stop in, get loaded up with information - which will help
increase your enjoyment of the coming sights.
From Glide
continue east on Hwy 138 to Steamboat and Forest Road #38. This is
probably where you tyurned off to view Steamboat Falls.
From Forest
Road #38, continue east on Hwy 130 for about 18 miles, past Toketee
Falls (the community) and continue another 1.8 miles to Forest Road
#34. Turn left onto the Forest Road and follow it about 400 yards to
the parking lot (just on the other side of the river). The footpath to
the observation deck is an easy walk of less than a half mile.
