Radio
City Music Hall
|
| One of the fourteen buildings in New York's Rockefeller Center was named Radio City. This building contained the headquarters and broadcast studios of RCA's NBC radio network, a specially designed symphony hall for the NBC Symphonic Orchestra which broadcast its performances frequently over the NBC radio network and the most grandiose and stunningly beautiful theatre ever built: Radio City Music Hall, the largest indoor theatre in the world. | The theatre was designed to impress - and it did! Live performances under the guidance of the talented impresario Roxy Rothafel were coupled with first-run screening of RKO movies - and, eventually, films from other studios. Radio City has an excellent web site with pictures to give you an idea of what it is like. But nothing, absolutely nothing, can truly prepare you for an in-person encounter. See: www.radiocity.com |
