In 1998, New York City
celebrated its centennial. Of course, 'New York' is well over 100 years old but,
in 1898, a unique charter was granted and executed which united some 40
different municipalities into one city - comprised of five boroughs: Bronx,
Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and Staten Island. Within this great city are the
cultures of all the corners of the earth - a true 'melting pot'. Here is the
most visible symbol to the world of the great 'promised land' - symbolized by
that great lady at the entrance to New York Harbor: the Statue of
Liberty.

« "What
about New Jersey hotels?"
Many people seem to think that staying across the river in New Jersey is
less expensive; it isn't. There are good hotels on Manhattan for about
$240/night; there are many in the $250-280 range. Plus, staying in Manhattan gives
you better access to better transportation and at less cost. Park your car at
the hotel (check if your hotel charges an extra parking fee; most do) when you arrive and forget about it until you leave. You DON'T want to
drive in Manhattan. Check it out - and save! A list of hotels in the
Times Square/Mid-Manhattan area is available at
www.Hotels-near-Times-Square.com
If you are
traveling in an RV you can save a bundle and still be 15 minutes away from
Manhattan.
