| From harbor tours to trolley tours, there is certainly no shortage of ways to see Savannah. While known for its history (and there are many historical tours for history buffs), Savannah tempers its industrial and financial activities as one of the South's major arts centers. Its yearly Jazz Festival (late September) has become world famous and the city almost explodes with the influx of people.
Saint Patrick's Day is usually the first major festival of the year and is celebrated in a style rivaling Ireland's own celebrations. Christmas brings the year to a close and is celebrated in a rather vociferous manner. While it is certainly different it is not irreverent. In Savannah the theme is to have fun - and celebrate.

Savannah is served by two Interstate Highways, I-16 (connecting to Atlanta and, via I-75 north, the Midwest) and I-95 (the major east coast north-south Interstate highway).
Accommodations are plentiful, although not necessarily where you might want to stay. Clustered in four areas, 1. the Savannah International Airport, 2. exit 94 (previously designated exit 16) on I-95 south of I-16 interchange, 3. south of downtown by Hunter Field, the Savannah Mall and the Oglethorpe Mall and, of course, 4. downtown in and around the historic district. There are many exhibits, concerts, conferences, sporting events, etc., in Savannah and the accommodations are frequently booked solid. |
