The historic Riverside Hotel unveils
$25 million expansion and renovation
The charm and elegance of old Fort Lauderdale meld seamlessly with the style of sophistication of downtown's trendy Las Olas Boulevard at the newly expanded and renovated Riverside Hotel.
One of Fort Lauderdale's oldest jewels has been transformed into the city's newest gem without sacrificing any of the old world grace that has made the Riverside Hotel a favorite for locals and discerning visitors since 1936.
"We're proud that we've been able to protect and enhance the irreplaceable historic qualities of the Riverside while modernizing our amenities and adding significant new accommodations for guests and groups," said General Manager Bryan L. Morley, CHA. "The Riverside has proven that the old doesn't have to be sacrificed for the new."
The $25 million expansion and renovation expands the Riverside's meeting and banquet facilities to more than 11,000 square feet and more than doubles the Riverside's capacity to 11 suites and 206 guest rooms.
The Riverside Hotel is in an ideal location, at 620 E. Las Olas Blvd., at the juncture of Fort Lauderdale's burgeoning downtown and busy nightlife and shopping districts and a short distance from the city's famous beaches.
New Executive Tower
The Executive Tower boasts 112 tasteful new rooms and four luxurious new penthouse executive suites. The new suites and many of the new rooms feature balconies that afford guests sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean, Las Olas, the New River and the impressive downtown skyline.
The new Executive Tower includes parking on the first seven floors with high quality retail space - enhancing Las Olas Boulevard's glitzy reputation - on the first floor.
The eighth floor contains banquet and meeting rooms with breathtaking views of the Fort Lauderdale Area. The Himmarshee Room and New River room are 2,800-square-feet each. Together, they can accommodate the largest events and they can be separated by air walls for smaller groups.
The Merritt Board Room is 900 square feet and perfect for board meetings, and breakfast, lunch or dinner meetings for up to 50 people. The Abeona Conference Room is ideal for more intimate meetings or meals for up to 25 people.
The new penthouse executive suites and luxury rooms are on floors nine through 12, all with magnificent views and many with spacious balconies. While maintaining the Riverside's old world charm, the accommodations are ultramodern with multi-line speaker phones, data ports and the latest in video entertainment.
The expansion and renovation project included a spacious new pool and deck nestled alongside the New River, where sunbathers can watch the endless parade of yachts and pleasure boats that Fort Lauderdale is famous for.
Fine and Elegant Dining
Of course, the Riverside Hotel continues it longstanding tradition of fine and elegant dining - both indoors and outdoors - and its expanded and renovated kitchen will surely enhance that reputation further.
The Grill Room on Las Olas is the recipient of the prestigious Four Diamond AAA Award for 2002. The Grill Room recaptures all the comforts of a stately overseas officer's club with the finest china, crystal and silver, with only the very best local foods and Midwest prime steak, an extensive wine list, an outstanding selection of cigars and specialty cocktails such as single malt scotch and cognacs.
1,500-bottle Wine Cellar
Adjacent to the large, elegant Grill Room is the luxurious Wine Room, designed to showcase the Riverside's extensive 1,500-bottle wine cellar. It also serves as a private dining room and accommodates the cigar smoking desires of many guests.
The Indigo is an experience in gourmet Southeast Asian and Indonesian cuisine. Indigo captures the flavors of Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia with an authentic flair both in the preparation of the food and in its presentation.
Favorite Gathering Place
The Golden Lyon remains a favorite gathering place for local business people and visitors to enjoy a cocktail while watching the never ending promenade along Las Olas and its popular boutiques, art galleries and nightclubs.
