available 7 days a week.
This intimate
750-seat Theatre attracts some of the today's top performers. The line-up of
stars scheduled for 2001 include Rodney Dangerfield, Carrot Top, Tom Jones,
Paul Anka, George Carlin, David Copperfield, to name a few. Other stars who
have performed in the Hollywood Theatre since the resort's opening in December
'93 include Kenny Loggins, Randy Travis, Sheena Easton, Gladys Knight, Merle
Haggard, The Righteous Brothers, The Four Tops, Rita Rudner and Dennis Miller,
Engelbert Humperdinck, Don Rickles, Smokey Robinson, The Manhattan Transfer,
Jeff Foxworthy, Taylor Dayne, The Oak Ridge Boys, The Temptations and the Go-Go's.
The Hollywood Theatre has also hosted "The Tonight Show with Jay
Leno" during Las Vegas tapings.
The show is
pronounced: "La Fahm" (Fahm is pronounced like aah!)
"La Femme" is a first for America and Las Vegas, a show direct from
one of the hottest nightspots in the world, the original Crazy Horse in Paris,
famous for its productions celebrating beautiful woman and the art of the nude
since 1951.
"La Femme" uses a combination of light effects, film, and
projections to create dramatic effects: some subtle, some humorous and all
sensual.
All 12 of the international collection of dancers are members of the original
Crazy Horse dance troupe. La Femme dancers are trained in ballet and perfectly
integrate into sensuous choreography as their bodies are bathed in colored and
textured lighting designs.
For more than 50 years this French cultural phenomenon has drawn international
and U.S. celebrities such as Madonna, Warren Beatty, Sophia Loren, Elizabeth
Taylor, Sting, and Elvis Presley.
Guests must be at least 21 years of age to attend "La Femme."
Business casual
attire required. (no t-shirts, tank tops, hats, baggy jeans or tennis shoes)
The Lion Habitat
at MGM Grand is open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Admission is complimentary.
To honor the lion
and help safeguard its preservation for future generations, MGM Grand Hotel
and Casino has created a one-of-a-kind Lion Habitat as a showcase for public
education and appreciation for this majestic creature of nature.
The lion has been
a part of the MGM heritage for many years, beginning with the legendary Leo,
whose roars have welcomed generations of moviegoers to epics of the silver
screen.
Countless
likenesses of the lion today grace the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino.
Construction on
the habitat began in December of 1998. We opened to the public on July 1,
1999. Cost of the project was approximately $9 million. The Habitat size is
approximately 5,345 square feet, with 3,000 square feet of queue area and 920
square feet of retail space.
The lions are
owned by noted feline expert Keith Evans, who has been training exotic animals
for more than 30 years.
Keith Evans was
instrumental in the design of the habitat, making sure it was constructed and
is maintained to insure the highest standards.
To fulfill its
education mission, MGM Grand has forged an alliance with the University of
Minnesota Lion Research Center and its renowned director, Dr. Craig Packer.
View the Lion Research Center website, www.lionresearch.org.
MGM Grand has
formed a working partnership with the Research, committing $100,000 in grants
over the next two years to help fund Dr. Packer's programs in Africa.
Part of the
funding will enable vaccination of more than 5,000 dogs in Tanzania to prevent
contraction of distemper among the lion population. The Center has already
been instrumental in saving thousands of lions from epidemic disease.
This unique
alliance will result in enhanced public awareness and appreciation of the
lion, and will make a meaningful contribution to the well being of the King of
Beasts in the wild.
The lions live in
custom accommodations on an 8½ acre ranch owned by Keith Evans located 12
miles from the MGM Grand.
The lions live
separately in prides in adjoining secure enclosures, which measure a minimum
of 2,600 square feet. Each enclosure has a climate-controlled dens that is
cooled in the summer and heated in the winter.
The lions are
bathed, dried and groomed before being transported to the MGM Grand each day.
The lions are
brought to the Habitat via a custom 16-foot box van that holds stainless steel
rolling transport cages. The truck is driven directly to an overhead door
adjacent to the habitat.
The lions are fed
a specially formulated meal by hand after being loaded back into their rolling
cages prior to their return home.
They enjoy eating
what is known as "Nebraska Brand", which provides them with a mix of
all of the nutrients and vitamins a lion needs.
During the day,
their handlers also sometimes give the lions nutritious treats.
The handlers
utilize only their voices and hands when working with the lions both here at
the Habitat and home at the ranch.

tour at the Lion Habitat. This tour is available for private groups - minimum

Activity Center, we concentrate on each and every child as if they were our
only guest. After all, we know personal attention and social interaction are
extremely important to your child's comfort level and enjoyment. We do not
separate your children. This free-flowing environment allows siblings to stay
together regardless of age. Activities keep your child busy, as does making
new friends, and having lots and lots of fun.
Our center offers
nonstop fun with a two-story custom built playhouse, puzzles, dollhouse,
dinosaurs, puppets, blocks, and much more. They can even watch the latest in
children's films while relaxing in a bean bag chair!
Our youth center is equipped with a kitchen, providing meals and snacks
throughout the day. Children can enjoy pizza, hot-dogs, chicken nuggets,

and food costs can be added to your room bill or paid each time you pick up
your child.
We use our vast resources to set the stage for the introduction of new
adventures and skills to our young visitors. Our Youth Activity Center allows
children an opportunity to further develop the interests and talents they
already have, as well as discover some new ones along the way.
While staying at MGM Grand, it's nice to know that your youngsters are having
an equally fun time! All this fun starts at the MGM Grand Youth Activity
Center - a wonderful world of laughs, memories and achievements.
State law requires all children to be a minimum of three years old and
