Just a short
(cheap!) water taxi ride from downtown is Granville Island - and you've probably
never experienced anything like it.
The ubiquitous
street performers could fill your day with their variety and excellence.
Musicians (ranging from folk to classical), gymnasts with rubber bodies,
displays of martial artists (their moves are so fluid it is like watching a
ballet) and even clowns (most call themselves jesters) delight kids of all ages.
And, speaking of
kids, there is a special building, called the Kids Place, full of delights for the
kids (the smaller ones, sir). Just behind the Kids Place building is a small
water park - full of wet fun - and free!

Also behind
Kids Place is pretty little stream. Picnic tables line the bank.
Looking for more
adult stuff? Well how about some neat ways to spend some of that money: lots of
shops, mostly selling locally-made crafts, plus a genuine farmers' market.
Hungry?
You're in luck. There are also several dozen kiosks selling a wide variety of snacks (including
fresh-baked bread).
Obviously, you
don't want to miss Granville Island and you will be spending much more than an
hour or two here. Which brings up a point; you will want to spend several days
in Vancouver and you'll be so happy that you did. So plan ahead.
