Though not a building, Vienna's Giant Ferris Wheel is an example of excellence in design. Located in Prater Park (an island between the Danube River and the Canal), the Riesenrad (as it is known) was built in 1897 when building these huge ferris wheel was the rage in Europe. This one, however, is the only one remaining. Made famous to Americans in several movies (especially The Third Man), it affords a spectacular view of Vienna.
